Notorious 'Din Komando' gang nabbed

Five members of the notorious "Din Komando" gang were nabbed by police in a raid at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Ampang police chief ACP Amiruddin Jamaluddin said based on a public tip-off, police raided the hotel at around 11.45am on Monday and nabbed the five, aged between 20 and 30 years.

"Initially, we arrested two women in a room at the hotel... a few minutes later a man came to the room who happened to be their accomplice.

"On checking the room, police found several items that did not belong to them. These included handphones, watches, handbags, SIM cards and DVD players," he told reporters at his office on Friday.

He said police later arrested two more accomplices in a Proton Wira car in the hotel area and seized more handphones and watches besides a bunch of keys, a
parang, a dagger and a pair of handcuffs.

"This led us to find a Suzuki Swift car also in the hotel area in which we found more handphones," he said, adding that both cars had been reported stolen.

He said the total value of the seized items was around RM100,000.

He said the women had no past criminal record but the men had records for housebreaking, robberies, carjacking and drug offences.

He added that the gang had been active in the Klang Valley for the past one year and that police were confident of rounding up the remaining members soon.
