M'sian man shocked to find pistol in letterbox

A man was shocked to find a Smith & Wesson pistol in the letterbox of his flat in Bandar Baru Air Hitam, George Town,Penang on Tuesday afternoon.

The man, in his 40s, who declined to be identified, said he made the find at 3.30pm when he went to the groundfloor of his flat to check his letterbox.

"I was shocked to see the pistol when I opened the letterbox. I informed my family members and then lodged a police report," he told reporters on Wednesday.

North-East district police chief ACP Gan Kong Meng confirmed receiving a report on the pistol discovery.

"We are investigating to determine the owner of the weapon and why it was placed in the letterbox," he said.
