Woman with 'uniboob' after botched surgery

A 40-year-old woman in Los Angeles, US, is making national headlines after a botched breast implant surgery left her with a "uniboob.

Dinora Rodriguez, a stay-at-home mother, wanted to swap out a pair of leaking breast implants for new ones a few years ago, so she went to a doctor who was referred to her by a friend.

Dinora Rodriguez was left what looked like 'one big breast' instead of two and had a lot of pain

However, after the surgery, she was left what looked like "one big breast" instead of two and had a lot of pain.

Dr. Anthony Youn, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Troy, Michigan, said says Rodriguez's surgeon left her with a bad case of symmastia, or "a uniboob."

"It's where the implant pockets are connected in the middle - and they definitely shouldn't be," Youn told MSNBC.

Rodriguez said she later discovered that her surgeon was not board-certified.

He also reportedly operated on a scar near her eyes without her permission, giving her an unwanted eye lift and preventing her from completely shutting her eyes.

The doctor's identity has not been disclosed.

Rodriguez later sued and the case was resolved by Los Angeles Superior Court.

Experts say you should shop around when choosing a plastic surgeon, and check their credentials. Most importantly, make sure they are board certified.

Rodriguez has since had her implants fixed by a board-certified reconstructive surgeon but her eyes are still a "mess".
