Sold into slavery

Sold into slavery

Slavery still happens in this day and ageand in a place where youd least expect itthe United Kingdom.

A man from the UK was sold into slavery for 10,000 (RM48,000).

Andy Williamson was offered work after leaving jail. He was promised food, a bed and cigarettes.

Williamson told The Sun, "It was a nightmare. A (gypsy) family in Tamworth sold me to a family in Brighton.

"I lived in a small caravan beside the family's motor home.

"I did paving, guttering, anything. They paid me 10 (RM48) a day and a bag of chips at night.

"I was sold for 10,000 (RM48,000) because I was a good worker. Selling people is a big and nasty business.

"If they caught you running they'd beat and lock you up, take your shoes and stop feeding you."

Andy, now in his 40s, escaped three years ago while his "owners" were out.

Williamson claimed this after 24 alleged slaves were freed from a gypsy camp.
