Woman jailed 2 years for child porn

A woman who was arrested on child porn charges while pregnant in a maternity hospital ward in Blackpool in Britain, has been jailed for two years.

Susan Smith, 42, took indecent photos of a friend's naked three-year-old daughter and sent them to a paedophile.

She was caught when a man borrowed her phone, saw the vile pictures and called the police.

Smith later gave birth while under police guard.

The pictures were taken when the girl's mother fell asleep after Smith was visiting her home.

Smith admitted sending the photos to the un-named man, who has a conviction for indecent exposure, "to arouse him because he liked that kind of stuff".

In sentencing Smith at the Preston Crown Court, Judge Beverley Lunt said the act was "a gross breach of trust" to satisfy "perverted desires".

She added: "You put the interests of a paedophile before the welfare of a three-year-old child."

Smith was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register and banned from unsupervised access to children under 16.

Detective Inspector Tony Baxter, from Western Division's Public Protection Unit said: "These are very serious offences, made all the more disturbing given the fact that this woman is a mother herself and was heavily pregnant at the time she committed these crimes.

"Smith deserves to be behind bars and I do hope the family of the child involved can take some comfort from the sentencing."
