Suspected sexual predator nabbed in Kelantan

The police have detained a suspected sexual predator in connection with the kidnap of a teen girl in Kampung Alor Peroi, Kuala Besut, Terengganu on Aug 12.

The 23-year-old man was caught napping at an unnumbered house in Kampung Gong Manok Alor, Semerak, Kelantan.A police team led by Insp Norkhizan Ramli picked up the suspect about 10.30am Friday.

[right] The teen girl, rescued by police from being a sex slave, is now safely back at home.Prior to the arrest, the man drew a machete which was hidden under his pillow and attacked the police who managed to overpower him.This brings to three, the number of suspects picked up so far, in connection with the case involving the 15-year-old victim who has since been rescued by the police.The other suspects are aged 17 and 25.Besut police chief Superintendent Kamaruddin Zakaria said the suspect, who tested positive for drugs, had been detained previously for a series of cases, including sexual crimes.The suspect would be remanded for a week to facilitate investigations, he told a press conference at the Kampung Raja police headquarters in Besut Saturday.On Aug 12, the suspect, together with two accomplices, was alleged to have whisked away the girl in a Perodua Kancil in front of a sundry shop in Kampung Alor Peri at 9.15pm.Following a report by the victim's father, the police tracked down the girl at an unnumbered house in Kampung Gong Manok, Pasir Putih, Kelantan.Two men were nabbed while the other escaped.Source: Bernama
