Bride watches shark savage groom

A honeymoon for newlyweds turned into a nightmare.

A bride of 11 days, Gemma Houghton, watched her husband being torn apart by a shark.

The Sun reported her husband Ian Redmond, was attacked in shallow water, a 100 ft near a Seychelles beach.

Houghton, 27, was sunbathing when she heard her husband scream for help.

The shark tore huge chunks of flesh from his body.

Fishermen helped carry him to the beach in a dinghy but he died before medical help could arrive.

A witness, also called Ian, said: "The swimmer was missing a huge chunk of flesh from his left leg, so much so that I could see the bone of his thigh. He was sickeningly pale, but still had his flippers on both feet.

Another witness said: "The man was swimming close to the beach. He began splashing and shouting. His arm was ripped off and parts of his torso were missing. There was a horrific amount of blood in the water. It was like Jaws."

Another witness said someone grabbed Gemma and kept her away from her mutilated husband, for her own good as the damage was too great for her to see.

The shocked bride wept and screamed "that's my husband".
