A looter who pinched an ice cream and gave it away after one lick has been jailed for 16 months.Anderson Fernandes, 21, wandered into a shop after finding the door open, went to the ice cream counter and took a cone and two scoops.But after tasting it he realised he didn't like the coffee flavour and gave it to a passing woman.Fernandes, of Newton Heath, Manchester, left DNA at the scene. He admitted burglary.Judge Michael Henshell, who sentenced Fernandes and others for various offences at Manchester Crown Court, said: "Stealing items as trivial as ice cream, handbags and T-shirts could be called low-level offending."But crowds are composed of individuals, others are drawn in and become part of the general offending."A teenager who incited his 2,000 Facebook friends to "kill a million cops" during rioting in Nottingham was locked up for 33 months at the city's crown court.Amed Pelle, 18, admitted encouraging violent disorder but said it was meant as a joke.
