She recalls how she was flown around the world, including to the Grand Prix and a dinner party attended by Princess Caroline in Monaco.

She holidayed in the Caribbean after being flown on a private Boeing.

She says Mutassim would book several floors of the most expensive hotels in Paris and London for parties.

'I asked him once how much he spent, and he took a minute to add it up in his head. He said ''about $US2mil (RM6mil)''.

I said ''you mean a year?'' He said ''no a month''.

Talitha said he believed Libyans were 'happy enough' and not suppressed.

They had free hospital care and schools, and cheap bread and rice, he is said to have told her.

According to her, Mutassim heroes were Adolf Hitler, Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro.
