Man cuts off own legs

A disabled man in the United Kingdom cut his own legs off with a hacksaw.

Paramedics say Barrie Hepburn, 65, had severed his legs and was bleeding to death, reported The Sun.

Medic Gary Allsop said, "Around him on the floor there was newspaper scattered and quite a lot of blood was on it.

"Embedded in the right leg was a hacksaw that was sawn into the leg and there was also another cut the same size on the other side of his leg that appeared to have been made by the same saw.

"Hepburn had tied a plastic tourniquet round his right leg in a bid to stop bleeding and a blood-splattered Stanley knife lay on the counter.

"He had packed a Sunday newspaper, car magazine, fruit and cakes into a bag to take to hospital once he had sawn off his legs."

He died in agony, a decade after his legs were rendered useless after being shot by a neighbour, over a dispute over a dog.

Mrs Hepburn told the inquest her husband attempted to commit suicide by opiate overdose three times after he was gunned down.

Hepburn had indicated to his wife that he was considering cutting off his legs.

He even showed his shocked wife, videos of people performing self-amputation on the Internet.
