IGP: Datuk T investigated for possession and distribution of porn
Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's police report against the mysterious Datuk T over a sex video is being investigated under possession and distribution of pornographic material.
Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar, who confirmed receiving the report, said that the case would be investigated under Section 292 of the Penal Code.
He was responding to questions from journalists at a Police Day interview at Bukit Aman Police Headquarters on Tuesday.
He declined to elaborate.
Earlier Tuesday, Anwar lodged a police report against Datuk T over the screening of a sex video implicating a senior opposition politician to journalists.
He alleged that Datuk T's statements to the journalists was criminal intimidation and defamation against him and his wife.
He made the report at the Dang Wangi police station in Kuala Lumpur.
The video was shown Monday to a select group of media representatives at Carcosa Seri Negara.
Anwar arrived at the police station at 10.35am accompanied by his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and left at about 12.05pm.
Present were PKR leaders R Sivarasa, Tian Chua and M. Manickavasagam, PKR vice-president N. Surendran and PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin.
In the report, Anwar denied that he was the man in the video.
"This is a humiliating, excessive and politically-motivated attack against my character and reputation and my family," he said.
An unidentified group claimed that it had a black-and-white video clip of a sexual act between an opposition leader and a woman said to be a prostitute from China at a hotel.
The group, led by a man who only wanted to be known as Datuk T, urged Anwar and his wife to step down within a week or the video would be made public through NGOs.
