Wrapped in bedsheets and keen to wed

In a desperate bid to get married, 11 men in Shanghai, China, wrapped themselves in bedsheets and displayed their mobile phone numbers on placards on board a subway train.

They pulled off their stunt on Sunday, ahead "Bachelor's Day" on November 11.

The day to celebrate single males was initiated by college students and has since become a popular celebration among both single men and women.

In Chinese, "Bachelors Day" reads Guang gn ji - literally translated as "single stick".

Although it is not an official holiday, it has become a voguish occasion among young and single white-collar workers.

A survey conducted in Wuxi City in Jiangsu Provinceshowed that half of those questioned think that women should marry before 28 while the ideal marriage age for men is 30.

Marriage fairs are usually held in many Chinese cities for single men and women.
