Student beaten up by girlfriend

A youth in China called police for help in the wee hours after he was beaten up by his girlfriend.

"I was beaten," Zhang Qiang told police on Friday.

When police arrived, his girlfriend Huang Ling was still pulling his hair in public.

The couple, both masters students in Chongqing, has been dating for over a year.

A heated argument broke out between them after Huang went for a late-night outing.

During the dispute, Huang hit Zhang, which resulted in the latter calling police for help.

The couple, however, said they would not split up after Huang had calmed down.
