Man jailed for filming belly-dancers

A 39-year-old man was jailed for 10 months for secretly videotaping women who were taking part in a belly-dancing class.The man identified only by his surname Lim videotaped the group on seven occasions in March from the rooftop of a nearby building in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea.

Clad in tank tops, the women were dancing in a studio in a building next to where the man was taping, the court documents said.

The accused, who has been punished previously for a similar offence, committed the crime again to satisfy his sexual desires, Judge Lee Dong-hoon of the Suwon District Court said in a statement.

The court is delivering a severe punishment given that the mental anguish for the victimized women seems huge and that the tape could cause secondary harm by being circulated.

There were no reports on how the man spread the footage.
