Elephant tusks seized at Bangkok airport

Thai customs officials confiscated one tonne of elephant tusks at the Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok.
The items, valued at 52mil baht (RM5.18mil), were originally from Africa sent via Malaysia to Bangkok, Chawewan Kongcharoenkitkul, deputy director general of the Thai Customs Department, told a press conference on Friday.
She said the confiscation wasincompliance with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and local Thai law.
She added the goods had been declared as craft works.
